Our Partners In A Circular Future

OUR PARTNERS IN A CIRCULAR FUTURE

The fashion industry currently exists within a dichotomy of sorts. Half the world is fuelling fast-fashion production with cheap, unethical, and poorly made garments. The other half has abandoned that approach and taken to the slow fashion model of conscious clothing.

In this mixed bag, many of the brands that are truly encouraging ethical production and consumption get lost among the jargon and noise of brands that are simply greenwashing and making unsuitable claims about recycling clothing and “conscious collections.” Even worse is the fact that these ‘claims of consciousness' are often blatantly displayed alongside some of the worst-offending products on their rails. It can be tiresome to find truly sustainable, ethical brands in the world of greenwashing and hidden agendas. Indeed, there is not even full agreement on what the term “sustainability” really means.

It can be tiresome to find truly sustainable, ethical brands in the world of greenwashing and hidden agendas. Indeed, there is not even full agreement on what the term “sustainability” really means.

THE GUESTLIST believes that true sustainability lies in quality products, conscious consumption, and a commitment to circularity. Other knitwear brands that we see as partners in this mission, and who we believe are committed to the same pledge, are Georg Maier, Posseimo, MeinFrollein, and Feel-A-Fil.

Georg Maier

The first Cashmere Spa partner to pledge to a circular fashion model was Georg Maier, our manufactory partner. As a brand with a rich history, Georg Maier has understood quality for over 70 years. Recognizable by the pairing of their straight, minimalistic silhouettes, with bold and exciting colors, Georg Maier has always made style effortlessly seamless.

Georg Maier creates products with the slogan “Responsibility for people and nature”. Using only 100% wool, Georg Maier assures all customers that their products are, without a doubt, made to last. Not only that, their workers are assured of fair, safe conditions in which to operate on a day-to-day basis. Each product is handmade, by a skilled team of women in the manufactory in Muhlhausen. Additionally, Georg Maier shares our short supply chain system, in which everything is “knitted, washed, ironed, cut, sew, checked, packed and shipped” by our team.

Their commitment to quality textiles and a short, traceable supply chain, is what has established this brand as one that inspires a sustainable approach to fashion - by keeping fashion simple and honest.

Posseimo

Our Cashmere Spa partner, Posseimo, created their business model around an unfailing dedication to a sustainable, conscious market. With high-quality products, manufactured with the intention to protect the natural environment in New Zealand, their mission includes saving any part of that environment they can.

Noting that true sustainability is in the production of yarns and knitwear, the founders - Nelly and her husband - agree that ethics extend beyond just the end product. They pride themselves in the fact that their manufactory is nearby, allowing it to be monitored and ensuring that they can protect their employees, across both New Zealand and German standards. Their practices ensure that their products do not poison water systems with toxic dyes or chemicals, nor waste unnecessarily.

MeinFrollein

MeinFrollein is a fellow German cashmere supplier, who prioritizes the sheer quality, comfort, and conscience of sustainable knitwear. They share our belief that real style is the investment in a standard of quality that you are assured when purchasing cashmere. To them, sustainability is making a promise to a wardrobe that lasts, and that you love.

Their mission is to give back to more than just the environment. For every purchase, €3 is donated to educational projects for disadvantaged children. In working together with the Kinderzukunft Foundation since 2013/2014, MeinFrollein has ensured that the purchases made by their customers are more than an investment in the future of our planet, they are also an investment towards the future of our children. In line with investing in the future through our purchases, their participation in our Cashmere Spa initiative demonstrates that they are committed to a circular, sustainable future of fashion.

Feel-A-Fil

Surpassing sustainability and tapping into the world of inclusivity, Feel-A-Fil has created a knitwear collection - the likes of which has rarely been seen before. The owner, Selena, has focused on the most sensual part of a quality piece of knitwear; the haptic experience. With the consideration that fashion is both aesthetic and haptic, Feel-A-Fill has created garments that are both beautiful, and encompass sensory experiences.

This experience is two-fold. One can indulge in the touch and feel of the garments based on the incredible quality of the fibers used, yes. But Feel-A-Fil has taken this experience to another dimension - with textured garments that have been knitted to resemble Braille, associating “every color [with] a material, every material [with] a technique, and every combination [with] a different tactile experience”. Additionally, the care labels themselves have Braille-descriptions of the design number, the washing guide, and the colors of the garment.

The consideration of a sensory experience is also what Selena believes will tie consumers to their products more personally. The feel of your favorite sweater against your skin creates a bond with that garment - one that she wishes to replicate, in a mission to help consumers hold onto their wardrobes for longer. This, she anticipates, will extend the consumption phase and slow down the fashion model. Along with their dedication to quality materials, a short supply chain, and ethical manufacturing, Feel-A-Fil is an up-and-coming leader in the sustainable knitwear industry.

As partners in our mission towards sustainability and role-players in the goal of a circular future, THE GUESTLIST highlights Georg Maier, Feel-A-Fil and Posseimo as beacons in the fashion industry. Their prioritization of quality over quantity, and the careful consideration of the planet we inhabit, means that their products play a humble role in inspiring consumers to take note of the greater impact that their garments have. In making each purchase count towards a cause that is more than merely about aesthetics, Georg Maier, Feel-A-Fil and Posseimo take sustainability within the fashion industry a step further than most brands are willing to, or indeed have been able to, thus far.

These brands have taken their commitment towards a circular economy a step further, by partnering with THE GUESTLIST’s Cashmere Spa. In doing so, their customers are granted special access to our service, to repair and rejuvenate their products to a state almost as good as new. This initiative puts circularity into practice, encouraging the careful, considerate care of garments, while inspiring dedication to a wardrobe of quality, long-lasting products.

THE GUESTLIST encourages other brands to partner in this mission with us and our partners, towards a sustainable, circular future. Together we are recreating the industry, to ensure that we are making it into one that lasts for generations to come. Contact us should you or your brand like to learn more, or indeed partner with the Cashmere Spa.
